1. Introduction
The thread rolling die is a crucial factor in the screw manufacturing. The screw thread rolling process requires two flat rolling die: inside the thread rolling machine, there’s a pusher blade to insert the workpiece (blank) into the cold forming area, between both flat dies.
Unlike the screw thread cutting process, the screw thread rolling process applies a pair of flat hardened steel dies to displace and mold ductile metals: the tooth from the flat thread rolling die protrudes into the outside diameter of the cylindrical blank to reform the surface, thus producing a part with a thread mirroring that of the die. The displaced part of the blank in the crest forms threads, which are molded within one working stroke.
The tooth form of the hardened steel dies protrudes into the outside diameter of plain cylindrical blanks to reform the surface. Each tooth exudes extreme pressure against the workpiece’s surface, pushing the blank material outward toward the crests in the thread roll profiles, thus producing a part with a thread mirroring that of the die. That displaced metal in the crests forms the threads.
2. Specifications
As we mentioned before, the thread rolling die has two pieces, one is the fixed piece, and the other is
the moving piece. The main parameters of the flat thread rolling die are length, depth, and thickness of the plate, which are shown in the following as the most common specifications (L1 refers to the length of the fixed piece and L2 refers to the length of the moving piece).
We also provide other sizes of thread rolling flat dies according to your demand.
3. Applications
This pair of thread rolling dies are installed in the thread rolling machine to form the thread of the screw. It’s a cold-forming process that produces stronger threads than the cutting tool. We mainly offer thread rolling flat dies for the manufacturing of the following screws:
Screws with thread Type A
Screws with thread Type B
Screws with thread Type AB
Drywall Screws
Chipboard Screws
LAG screws
4. Advantages
Strong screw production: Unlike the traditional cutting process that might destroy the micro-structure of the workpiece; the screw thread rolling process realigns the grain lines while leaving the structure largely intact.
Compatibility with thread rolling machine: as we mentioned before, we offer a great variety of flat thread rolling dies in terms of their sizes, materials, and designs, which meet the requirement of different thread rolling machines. We have our own design and development team of dies for different types of screws.
High-quality control: With a complete system of quality control, we offer you thread rolling flat dies with long-service life and more importantly, with high precision, which is the key in the screw thread rolling process.
